In the year 2000, the Malaysian government launched a spectacular educational project to adapt all the country’s educational infrastructu-
res to new technologies. Leaders correctly perceived that training youngsters was the key to the country’s competitiveness and that meant providing training centres with the most advanced information technology (IT), audiovisual, computer and communication equipment. Alongside this equipment, the Malaysian government is also investing in top-class installation companies and consultants who are able to integrate these technologies.

ECLER has acted as consultant and supplier of equipment for various universities and schools during the last few years and one of the most emblematic installations, because of its size and features, is Malaysia’s University of KUKTEM (KOLEJ UNIVERSITI KEJURUTEAAN TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA). The project comprises a first audiovisual equipment phase in 70 classrooms and one conference room.

Various aspects that needed to be solved in the University were the following:

• The fact that it is a technological university (in fact, Pahang State’s most prestigious technological university) meant that the equipment had to be more than simply functional
• High temperatures
• Installation and maintenance had to be simple and quick
• The equipment would be used in classrooms

A series of priorities was defined in accordance with these problems:

• The equipment had to be easily installable
• The equipment had to have very low noise levels, which meant the absence of active ventilation systems in amplification
• The equipment had to have proven reliability and a minimum three-year guarantee

Installation time was less than a day per classroom and was carried out during 2005.
