MAYBACH MUSEUM, GERMANY
Maybach limousines are the most valuable cars in the whole automotive history. Between 1920 and 1941 approximately 1.800 examples of these majestic cars have been manufactured in Friedrichshafen at the Lake Constance. Only 160 Maybach limousines survived over the last centuries. More than 10 percent of the whole world asset stands in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate.

The “Myth of Maybach” was founded by Wilhelm Maybach. He was born on 9th of February 1846 in Heilbronn. Parson Gustav Werner and Gottlieb Daimler recognized the genius of the orphan boy living in the Orphanage at Reutlingen. They promoted him in good time and granted him an education as technical Designer and Constructor. Wilhelm Maybach took part on the invention of the motor-cars. He constructed the motor of the first Mercedes Simplex and advanced later on as the “King of Constructors”.
Together with his son Karl, who was a genius too, Wilhelm Maybach founded in 1909 the later called Maybach-Motorenbau Ltd. in Bissingen/Enz. There high-power-engines for airships and planes were manufactured. After World War I Karl Maybach built up in Friedrichshafen the production of absolutely top motor-cars of an utmost luxury category, which were manufactured until the beginning of the 2nd World War on demand.
Maybach-Motors are ingenious: They established new records with fast running Diesel motors for railway trains like the “Flying Hamburger” and they drove the giants of the airship-period in the same way like military chain-vehicles. After World War II the production was concentrated on heavy Diesel motors for railway-trains and ship building.
In 2009 the “Myth of Maybach” celebrated its 100th anniversary. But the story of success still continue …
