THE READERS’ CIRCLE EXHIBITION HALL IN BARCELONA
In 2006, the Readers’ Circle Foundation opened a new exhibition hall in the centre of the Ensanche District of Barcelona, in addition to the two other centres that already exist in the city.
Today, the new premises regularly house exhibitions, literary meetings, book presentations, conferences and debates in an area that is exquisitely designed, forming a working area for artists of great repute, such as Carlos Saura and Miquel Barceló.

The hall is divided up into 3 main sections; a lobby, a secondary hall and the main exhibition hall with a surface area of approximately 220 sq m. The Foundation has at all times ensured the articulation of all three sections, with a view to guaranteeing the necessary multi-functionality required by areas such as these, to guarantee maximum use and admit practically all the contemporary artistic formats and special events organised there.
Based on the above functional premises, the challenge posed by the audiovisual installation led to the entire surface area being divided up on a multi-zone basis. The main hall was also designed to house events such as mural exhibitions, chamber music performances for editorial events, talks and conferences, with the audience either standing or sitting and the habitual presence of the people from the press and radio sectors.
The audio installation is thus divided up into the following areas:
- Lobby
- Press room
- Main hall
- Control cabin
ECLER was the firm chosen to provide the solution, by the use of amplification and loudspeaker cabinets through ACADINSA, a Catalan company that is consolidated in the audiovisual sector and specialises in multi-purpose halls such as the Readers’ Circle Exhibition Hall.
For an installation of this type, the choice was quite clear: the entire amplification was done using 7 DPA600 stereo power phases, 6 of which were completed by an AMIC processing card that performs the customised equalising of each group of OHM BR6 acoustic boxes. ACADINSA has again placed its trust in ECLER amplification, for premises that allow for no error with respect to the approach used or the execution.
As Cristina Gelonch, responsible for the Readers’ Circle in the Hall, put it: “The solution adopted for the installation was particularly elegant, since it blends in perfectly with the decoration of our hall”.
Equipment installed:
- 7 DPA600
- 6 AMIC
- 17 OHM BR6
- 1 DP300
